Democrats For Life of America Endores Davis' Version of 95-10 Initiative

WASHINGTON, DC - Democrats For Life of America announced today that they will be supporting a new abortion reduction bill that will be introduced by Congressman Lincoln Davis (D-TN) in the U.S. House of Representatives next week.
Congressman Lincoln Davis will outline the key provisions of his Pregnant Women Support Act at a press conference scheduled for Wednesday September 20th at 10 a.m. on the Cannon Terrace.
"Congressman Davis' Pregnant Women Support Act is a great bill. The Davis bill unites Democrats and Republicans in our effort to support pregnant women. It places more emphasis on helping pregnant women during and after pregnancy than any bill we can recall. Davis' bill offers real support and real solutions to help a woman make an informed decision and receive the support she needs to carry her child to term," said Kristen Day, Executive Director of DFLA.
DFLA's announcement today comes on the heels of yesterday's announcement of Congressman Tim Ryan's abortion reduction measure. Both the Ryan and Davis bills were derived from DFLA's 95-10 Abortion Reduction Initiative which DFLA introduced almost two years ago.
"We are pleased to see our Democratic Members on both sides of the abortion issue talking about the need to reduce the abortion rate. It is clear that pro-choice members heard our call and embraced our vision in the 95-10 Initiative. We believe that through sound policy we can reduce the abortion rate by 95 percent over the next 10 years," said Kristen Day.
Democrats For Life of America worked closely with Congressman Ryan on several provisions of his bill prior to yesterday's announcement. The group says that they are pleased that Congressman Ryan used their 95-10 Initiative as the template for his bill. While DFLA will officially endorse Congressman Lincoln Davis' legislation, they are supportive of any Member of Congress who takes the lead in reducing the abortion rate in America.
"Congressman Ryan's bill places more emphasis on contraception and Congressman Davis' bill focuses on helping pregnant women. We share Davis' belief that supporting women who find themselves in a crisis or unplanned pregnancy is critical. This bill has something that every Member of Congress can support. That's why we're hopeful that a renewed support for pregnant women can be achieved so they don't believe that abortion is their only choice," said Day.

The money raised by the sale of the plate would help fund crisis pregnancy centers.
