Fellow NC Pro-Life Democrats,
Here is an opportunity to make a difference. In February of this year, Rep. Trudi Walend introduced a bill, HB 263 Victims of Unborn Violence Act (http://www.ncleg.net/gascripts/BillLookUp/BillLookUp.pl?Session=2007&BillID=h263) in response to the murder of Jenna Nielsen and her 8 month old son Ethen in Raleigh. (http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2007-07-08-carrier_N.htm?csp=34) Yet, even in the face of this common sense bill, there are only two Democrats in the House supporting it and one Senator who may. The following is the updated message we received from Rep. Trudi Walend concerning this matter: I am asking each one of you on this list to take the following action steps:

Third, please contact your legislator and ask them why they are not sponsoring and/or supporting this bill.
Fourth, forward this email to any pro-life Democrats you know.
It is vitally important that we let our legislators know that pro-life Democrats who make up 43% of the Democratic Party are insistent on an ethic of life within our halls of justice. It is not in the best interests of our party to be identified as the party that killed this bill.

Please call the speaker of the NC House, Joe Hackney, at (919) 733-3451 and the President Pro-Tempore of the NC Senate, Marc Basnight at (919) 733 6854 to ask them to allow the citizens of our state the opportunity to purchase a "Choose Life" license plate. The money raised by the sale of the plate would help fund crisis pregnancy centers.
